Ingredients

Chicken breasts
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts Pat dry and keep thickness even for consistent baking.
Cream cheese ranch topping
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Soften until spreadable so it blends with the ranch seasoning.
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix Use the full packet for classic ranch flavor.
Bacon and cheese topping
  • 8 strips bacon, cooked crispy and crumbled Extra for topping after baking.
  • 1.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese Use more for a thicker melt if you like an extra-crispy top.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped Chopped chives for a fresh finish.
  • 0.25 salt and pepper to taste Add to season the chicken; use to adjust final seasoning.
  • 0.25 extra chives and bacon for topping Sprinkle right before serving.

Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan

Method

Prep and assemble
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 baking dish so the topping releases easily. Arrange the dish on a stable rack for even heat.
  2. Season the chicken breasts lightly with salt and pepper and place them in the prepared dish. Make sure each breast sits flat with space around for airflow.
Make the ranch cream cheese layer
  1. Beat the cream cheese with the ranch seasoning until smooth, then spread thickly over each chicken breast. Aim for full coverage so the top bakes into a thick, creamy layer.
Add bacon and cheddar topping
  1. Top each breast with crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese so the surface bakes into a golden crust. Distribute cheese evenly for consistent bubbling.
Bake
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the topping is golden and bubbly, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Watch for caramelized brown spots around the edges of the cheese.
Finish and serve
  1. Garnish with extra fresh chives and crumbled bacon and serve immediately. Letting it rest briefly will slightly thicken the topping, but it’s best hot.

Notes

Pro tip: soften the cream cheese fully before mixing so you don’t get lumps in the ranch layer. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in a 350°F oven until warmed through. Freezing is not recommended because the cream cheese layer can break after thawing. For a lighter option, use reduced-fat cream cheese and reduced-fat cheddar (the bake still stays bubbly, though the crust browns a bit less).
