Ingredients

  • 1 oz grenadine syrup For the red bottom layer.
  • 1 oz coconut rum Use for the white middle layer; swap with vanilla vodka if preferred.
  • 1 oz blue raspberry vodka Use for the blue top layer; swap with blue curaçao if preferred.
  • 0.5 oz lemon-lime soda Add last for lift and a light fizz.
  • 1 Ice cubes Fill the glass to the top so layers float and stay distinct.
  • 1 Maraschino cherry Garnish for the top and red pop.
  • 1 striped straw Garnish and patriotic presentation.
  • 1 oz vanilla vodka Optional swap for coconut rum (white layer).
  • 1 oz blue curaçao Optional swap for blue raspberry vodka (top layer).

Method

Layer the bomb pop drink
  1. Fill a tall cocktail glass with ice cubes to the top, pressing lightly so the glass is packed tightly for clean layers.
  2. Pour grenadine syrup slowly over the ice so it settles at the bottom and forms a cherry-red layer.
  3. Hold a bar spoon just above the ice and slowly pour coconut rum or vanilla vodka over the spoon to create the white middle layer without mixing.
  4. Pour blue raspberry vodka or blue curaçao over the spoon again to float as the electric blue top layer.
  5. Add a small splash of lemon-lime soda around the top and garnish with a maraschino cherry and a striped straw, then do not stir before serving.

Notes

Pro tip: pour slowly and keep the spoon close to the liquid surface so each layer floats into place; serving immediately helps prevent the colors from bleeding. Store any leftovers covered in the fridge up to 1 day (layers may blur); freezing is not recommended. For a lighter swap, use diet lemon-lime soda for the final splash.
