Prep
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika to taste, then place them in the prepared dish.
Make the topping
- Whisk together sour cream, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning mix, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder until smooth.
- Spread the sour cream mixture generously over each chicken breast.
Bake
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and crumbled bacon so the surface is fully covered.
- Bake for 28-32 minutes until the topping is golden and bubbly and the internal temperature reaches 165°F; garnish with fresh chives after baking.
Notes
For the best golden-bubbly top, keep the chicken in a single layer so the sauce spreads evenly. Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container for up to 3 days; freeze is yes for up to 2 months, but topping may soften after thawing. For a lower-fat option, use light sour cream and light mayonnaise while keeping the same bake time and cheese amount to maintain the caramelized crust.
